From April 13-15, 2011 the Nairobi Lighthouse KidzHouse had the event of the year, thus far. The event, 'Character Breakout', was just something else. Here's a brief update from our KidzHouse Pastor, Ms. Makena Mwithia...

Character BreakOut Was a Blast!
KidzHouse and Ignite organized and facilitated a 3-day camp dubbed Character BreakOut for Tweens - the age between childhood and early teenage, 10-14 years. This day camp was for the first time opened to the city and not limited to church membership only, and its foremost goal was to teach biblical CHARACTER and BUILD the NEXT GENERATION of LEADERS!

It Was Amazing! How exciting to see so many so excited about learning character! The picture above is just one of the teams. There was such a fun and relaxed, yet competitive and highly charged atmosphere.

KidzHouse Facilitators & Creative Arts Volunteers These awesome teams engaged Tweens through discussions, stories, song and dance, competitive activities, exercises and media presentations, all aimed at helping them learn, retain and maintain good character. Qualities such as punctuality, enthusiasm, patience, responsibility, initiative, sensitivity, tolerance, among others were covered. We believe that Character BreakOut helped inform, instruct and empower to make right choices in moments of temptation or dilemma. We know that our city and nation is being transformed as our children are being transformed in character.
A side goal of the event was to make some money and contribute to the NLC ‘Ni Yetu’ building fund. About 30 adults from KidzHouse and Creative Arts took days off to make this possible. The awesome report is that the event has raised about 145,000 shillings for the building! What a blessing! NI YETU!!
